Police said that Vignesh ended his life at his home in city’s Kalaignar Nagar at Vilacheri in Madurai district. Police found the image of a whale carved on Vignesh’s left hand with “Blue Whale” written below it.

Cops also recovered a note which said, “Blue whale is not a game, once you enter you can’t exit”. Vignesh was a second year B-com student at a private college in Thiruparankundram.

This is the first death reported in the state due to the game which has claimed many young lives in the country.

The deadly game has provoked a scare and huge concern in the country. Many states have banned the internet-based game after reports of teen suicides linked to the Blue Whale Challenge. Authorities have also asked parents to keep a close watch on their children’s online activities.
